What is stamped concrete, and where does it fit?
Stamped concrete is a regular concrete pour that has a pattern pressed into the surface while it is still workable, so a flat slab ends up with the texture of stone or brick. It fits where you want a finished look instead of a plain surface: a walkway to the front door, a patio, an entry or other flatwork around the house. At Big League Concrete & Grading, one local, family-owned crew handles the grading and the pour, so the ground under a stamped surface gets the same care as the surface itself.
That matters in Leesville, where heavy rain and hot sun test every slab. We start by checking elevation, soil and dimensions, then prepare the base so water runs away from your home. Stamped work is not right for every project, and the pattern and color options depend on the job. Tell us what you have in mind and we will talk it through.
Where stamped concrete fits
- Walkways to the front door and entries
- Patios and outdoor sitting areas
- Flatwork you want to look finished, not plain
- Projects where the base and drainage are done right first
What is included
What a stamped concrete job covers
One crew handles the ground, the forms and the pour, so you deal with one team from first look to finished surface.
Stamped patios
A patio poured and stamped as one finished surface, for a grill, a table or a spot to sit outside.
Stamped walkways and entries
A walkway or entry with a stamped surface that connects the front door, the driveway and the yard.
Base prep and grading
Clearing, excavating and grading for runoff, then a compacted base so the pour has solid ground under it.
Forming and pouring
Forms go in, base material is placed and the concrete is poured and finished before the pattern is pressed in.
Sealing, if it fits
Ask us whether sealing makes sense for your surface when you request your quote.
Choosing a finish
Stamped vs broom finish: which fits?
Both start with the same graded, compacted base. The difference is the finish on top. Here is a plain look at each.
Stamped finish
- A pattern is pressed into the surface, so the slab looks like stone or brick.
- Takes more steps and more skill at the pour than a plain finish.
- Usually priced above a broom finish because of the added work.
- A repair on a patterned surface is harder to blend in than on a plain one.
Fits when you want the surface itself to be part of how the space looks.
Broom finish
- A broom is drawn across the surface for a light, even texture.
- A simple, common finish for driveways, sidewalks and slabs.
- Fewer finishing steps, so it is generally the more economical choice.
- Easy to patch and match if the surface ever needs repair.
Fits when you want a durable, plain surface and a simpler job.

Questions
Stamped concrete questions
How is stamped concrete different from regular concrete?
Stamped concrete starts as a normal pour, then a pattern is pressed into the surface while it is still workable. The slab underneath is built like any other, with a graded, compacted base and forms. The difference is the finishing step, which gives the surface the look of stone or brick instead of a plain broom texture.
What affects the cost of stamped concrete in Leesville?
The size of the area, how much grading and base work the ground needs, and the pattern and finish you choose all shape the price. Stamped work usually takes more steps than a plain broom finish. We give clear pricing with no surprise charges, so the best step is to send us your project details and ask for a quote.
How long before I can use new stamped concrete?
Light foot traffic is usually fine after about 24 hours, but keep vehicles off new concrete for at least 7 days. Fresh concrete keeps gaining strength as it cures, so a little patience early protects the surface later. We will let you know when your pour is ready, based on the weather and the mix.
Do you handle the grading before a stamped pour?
Yes. One crew does both the grading and the concrete, so site prep and the pour are planned together. Grading before pouring creates a compacted base and directs rainwater away from your home and the new slab. You do not need to hire a separate grading contractor for a stamped project.
Should stamped concrete be sealed?
Sealing is a good question to bring up when you ask for a quote. Whether it makes sense depends on the surface, where it sits and how you use it, so we would rather talk it through with you than give a one-size answer. Tell us about your project and ask what we recommend.
Where do you pour stamped concrete?
We serve Batesburg-Leesville and Leesville, along with Lexington, Columbia, West Columbia, Chapin, Aiken, Seven Oaks and Saint Andrews in South Carolina. If your property is near one of those areas and you are not sure it is covered, ask when you request your quote and we will let you know.
