Can cracked concrete be repaired, or does it need replacing?

Often, yes. Minor cracks in concrete can often be repaired instead of replaced, which keeps the rest of your driveway, walkway or slab in place and avoids a full tear-out. Whether a repair will hold depends on what is happening underneath and how much of the surface is damaged. A hairline crack or a chipped edge is a different job from a section that has sunk, crumbled or heaved. When Trevor and the Big League crew look at your concrete in Leesville, we check the cause as well as the crack, because patching over a problem that keeps moving only hides it for a while. How a repair gets done

Four steps, the same way each time.

Look at the damage
Trevor or a crew member looks at the concrete and works out the cause, not just the crack: surface wear, movement, or water getting underneath.
Prepare the area
Crumbling and loose material comes out and the area is cleaned. If the ground is part of the problem, grading is handled before any concrete goes back.
Repair or replace
Minor cracks and surface damage are repaired. A section that is too far gone is formed and poured new, so the rest of the concrete can stay.
Finish and clean up
The repair is leveled, smoothed and left to cure, and we clean up the site before we leave.

Can cracked concrete be repaired, or does it need replacing?

Minor cracks can often be repaired instead of replaced. Wider damage, a surface that is crumbling, or a section that has sunk may point toward taking that part out and pouring new concrete. The way to know is to have the crew look at the slab and the ground under it. We will tell you plainly which route fits your concrete.

What kinds of concrete repair does Big League do?

Will a repair look the same as the concrete around it?

Fresh concrete often looks different from older, weathered concrete at first, and that difference tends to soften as the new material cures. How soon can I walk on a repaired surface?

Light foot traffic is usually fine after about 24 hours. Vehicles, furniture and heavier use need more time, and how much depends on the size and type of the repair. We will tell you when your repaired area is ready for each kind of use, so you are not guessing and risking the new work.

What if water or soft ground is what damaged the concrete?

Then fixing only the surface will not last. Grading before pouring creates a compacted base and directs rainwater away from the slab, and Big League handles both grading and concrete with one crew. If drainage or the base is part of the problem, we can address it as part of the repair plan instead of leaving it behind.
