How do you plan a concrete patio that drains right?

A good concrete patio starts well before the pour. The slab needs a compacted base under it, and the ground around it has to carry rainwater away from your home or pavilion instead of toward it. That is why Big League plans every patio around drainage first. We check the elevation, soil and dimensions, then clear, excavate and grade so the surface sheds water the right way. Because the same family-owned crew handles both land grading and concrete, there is no separate site-prep contractor to coordinate. The result is a smooth, level patio that stays usable after a storm. We pour new patios and extensions beside homes in Leesville, SC, as well as the floors under covered patios and pavilions, with forms and base material set before any concrete arrives. Bring us your dimensions or just an idea, and Trevor and the crew will talk through the layout, the slope and the finish with you.

Patio extensions

Need more room? We add concrete to an existing patio and grade the new area so water keeps moving away.

Pavilion and covered-patio floors

Level slabs under pavilions and covered patios, poured on a prepared base and finished for everyday use.

Circular and custom shapes

Round patios and shaped layouts, like the circular pad by the shed in our photos, formed to your plan.

We clear, excavate and grade the site, then set the compacted base, so you do not hire a second crew for the groundwork.

Patio questions

Concrete patio FAQ

Why does grading matter for a concrete patio?

Grading before pouring creates a compacted base and directs rainwater away from the slab and your home. Without it, water can pool on the surface or soak the soil under the concrete, which leads to settling and cracks. Because our crew handles the grading and the concrete together, the base, the slope and the pour are planned as one job.

How soon can I use a new patio?

Light foot traffic is usually fine after about 24 hours. Keep vehicles off new concrete for at least 7 days. Patio furniture, grills and other heavy items are a judgment call, so ask Trevor at the end of the job and he will tell you when your particular slab is ready for them.

Can you extend a patio I already have?

Yes. Patio extensions are part of what we do. We look at how water moves across the existing slab, then grade and prepare the new area so it drains away from the house instead of pooling where the two meet. Tell us the size you want and we will talk through the layout.

Do you pour floors for pavilions and covered patios?

Yes. Our photos include pavilion and covered-patio floors, from the forms and gravel base through the finished slab. Pavilion work follows the same steps as a home patio: evaluate the site, grade for runoff, set forms and base material, pour, finish and cure. Share the footprint and the post layout and we will plan around it.

Can a patio be round or a custom shape?

Yes. Circular and custom-shaped patios are formed to your layout, like the round pad beside a shed in our gallery. Curves take more careful forming than a square slab, so the shape, size and where water should run are worked out during the site evaluation before any concrete is ordered.

Which areas do you serve for patios?

We pour patios in Leesville and Batesburg-Leesville, SC, and across Lexington County and nearby communities, including Lexington, Columbia, West Columbia, Chapin, Aiken, Seven Oaks and Saint Andrews. If your property is close to one of those, tell us where the property is through the quote form and we will confirm we can get to you.
